Es geht los. Heute. 100 Tage lang Fotos und Skizzen, um mich mit Bildkomposition auseinander zu setzen.
Ich gestehe, ich habe mir für die ersten Tage ein paar Fotos aus meinem Archiv ausgesucht und ausgedruckt. Und natürlich starte ich mit einem Bild vom Meer.
Die Bildkomposition ist überschaubar, die Tonwerte sind es auch.
Wenn ich die Linien im Bild betrachte, dann habe ich den waagerechten Horizont, den senkrechten Leuchtturm und die schräge Weg-Kante. Alles läuft auf die Türöffnung im Leuchtturm zu, dort liegt also mein Bildzentrum.
Die Blume im Vordergrund könnte ich vernachlässigen, aber ich finde, sie balanciert das Bild aus. Durch ihre leuchtende Farbe zieht sie den Blick ähnlich auf sich wie das Grün des Leuchtturms. Und so können meine Augen wandern von vorne nach hinten und zurück.
Motiv-Wahl
Beim Durchschauen der Fotos vom letzten Jahr fand ich es gar nicht so einfach, Motive auszuwählen.
Warum? Weil viele der Fotos zwar als Erinnerung taugen, ihr Bildaufbau aber nicht so interessant ist, dass ich sie als Malvorlage wählen würde.
Damit habe ich schon die ersten Erkenntnisse gewonnen: Wenn ich unterwegs fotografiere, werde ich bei möglichen Motiven für meine Malerei stärker auf die Bildelemente und ihr Verhältnis zueinander achten.
Natürlich gibt es die Möglichkeit, ein Foto später zu beschneiden, um die Komposition zu verbessern.
Und in der Skizze kann ich mich zusätzlich entscheiden, welche Details ich beim Zeichnen und Malen weglassen möchte, um das Bild klarer zu gestalten.
Schon eine ganze Menge für diesen ersten Tag, oder? Ich bin gespannt, wie sich mein 100-Tage-Projekt entwickelt (und ob ich durchhalte). Drückt mir die Daumen.

Start of the 100-day project 2023
It begins. Today. 100 days of photos and sketches to deal with image composition.
I confess that I chose a few photos from my archive for the first few days and printed them out. And of course I start with a picture of the sea.
The image composition is manageable, as are the tonal values.
If I look at the lines in the picture, then I have the horizontal horizon, the vertical lighthouse and the diagonal path edge. Everything runs towards the doorway in the lighthouse, so that’s where my focal point is.
I could neglect the flower in the foreground, but I think it balances the picture. With its bright color, it draws the eye in a similar way to the green of the lighthouse. And so my eyes can wander from front to back and vice versa.
Motif choice
Looking through the photos from last year, I found it not so easy to choose motifs.
Why? Because many of the photos are good as memories, but their composition is not so interesting that I would choose them as painting subject.
With this I have already gained the first insights: When I take photographs on the go, I will pay more attention to the picture elements and their relationship to one another when I’m considering possible motifs for my painting.
Of course, there is the option to crop a photo later to improve the composition.
And in the sketch I can also decide which details I want to omit when drawing and painting in order to make the picture clearer.
Quite a lot for this first day, isn’t it? I’m excited to see how my 100-day project develops (and whether I’ll keep going). Keep your fingers crossed.
