Es ist schon eine Weile her, dass ich im Atelier eine Leinwand mit Farbe in unterschiedlichen Rot-Tönen überzogen habe. Ein abstrakter Hintergrund ist entstanden, der sehr lebendig, aber auch sehr unruhig ist (seht ihr hier).
Ich war eine Weile nicht mehr an der Staffelei, jetzt musste ich mich erstmal wieder ins Bild einspüren. Was braucht es als nächstes? Ganz klar: Beruhigung.
Denn wenn ich anschließend wieder Elemente vom Meer einbringen möchte, sollen die ja nicht in all den Farbflächen untergehen.
Beruhigen kann ich Flächen am einfachsten mit Lasuren, also mit durchscheinenden Farbschichten. So bekomme ich einheitlichere Flächen, ohne dass die Strukturen komplett verloren gehen. Schaut selbst.
Wie ich im Video schon festgestellt habe: Etwas am Bildaufbau stört mich, und das sind nicht die Farben der Buhnen, denn die werden sich noch stark verändern im weiteren Malprozess.
Es ist die Größe der Buhnen, die ich verändern möchte. Die vorderen sollen höher werden, bis in den dunkleren Bereich auf der linken Seite des Bildes hineinragen.
Allerdings müsst ihr jetzt eine Weile warten auf die Fortsetzung. Ich hatte ja letztens angekündigt, dass es im April hier ruhiger zugehen wird.
Ich beschäftige mich in den nächsten Wochen mit ein paar Ideen, möchte ein paar neue Ansätze verfolgen, aber das wird alles nichts sein, dass ich hier schon mit euch teilen kann. Doch die Zeit dafür wird kommen.

In the studio: What’s next for the red painting?
It’s been a while since I covered a canvas with paint in different shades of red in the studio. An abstract background was created that is very lively, but also very restless (see here).
I haven’t been at the easel for a while, now I had to find my way back into the painting. What does it need next? Quite clearly: more calmness.
Because if I then want to bring in elements from the sea again, they shouldn’t be lost in all the colored areas.
The easiest way for me to soothe surfaces is with glazes, i.e. with translucent layers of paint. In this way I get more uniform surfaces without the structures being completely lost. See for yourself in the video above.
As I already noticed in the video: Something about the composition of the painting bothers me, and it’s not the colors of the groynes, because they will change a lot in the further painting process.
It’s the size of the groynes that I want to change. The front ones should get taller, reaching into the darker area on the left side of the image.
However, now you have to wait a while for the sequel. I recently announced that things would be quieter here in April.
I’ll be working on a few ideas over the next few weeks, I’d like to pursue a few new approaches, but none of this will be something I can share with you here yet. But the time for that will come.
