Letzten Sonntag habe ich erwähnt, dass ich mein Bilderlager auf dem Speicher endlich (!) neu organisieren will. Der Plan, wie ich das machen könnte, ist im Urlaub entstanden.
Weil ich meine kreative Energie zur Zeit in verschiedene Aufträge zur Mediengestaltung gesteckt habe, dachte ich mir: Freie Zeiten solltest du für das Projekt “Bilder-Lager” nutzen.
Einerseits geht es darum, alles, was auf dem Speicher liegt, zu sortieren und zu sehen, was bleibt und was geht.
Andererseits möchte ich die Bilder, die dort lagern, vor Staub, Spinnenweben und Kratzern schützen. Und sie so verpacken, dass ich sie – zum Beispiel für geplante Ausstellungen – einfach finde und direkt transportieren kann.
Im Video geht es vor allem um das Problem der Verpackung und die Upcycling-Lösung, die ich dafür gefunden habe.
Ich weiß, das alles ist ziemlich aufwändig und hat reichlich Zeit gekostet. Aber so ist das meist, wenn man ein neues System einführt. Zuerst braucht es viel Energie, bis es bereit ist, aber der “laufende Betrieb” ist danach deutlich einfacher als vorher.
Und ich gestehe, es hat viel Spaß gemacht, auch wenn die langen Stunden an Schneidetisch und Nähmaschine schon anstrengend waren. Das sichtbare Ergebnis entschädigt für die Mühe.
Upcycling project: How do I protect my paintings in storage?
Last Sunday I mentioned that I finally (!) want to reorganize my painting storage in the attic. The plan of how I could do that came about while on vacation.
Because I’m currently putting my creative energy into various media design jobs, I thought to myself: You should use your free time for the “Painting Warehouse” project.
On the one hand, it’s about sorting everything that’s in storage and seeing what’s staying and what’s going.
On the other hand, I want to protect the paintings stored there from dust, spider webs and scratches. And pack them in such a way that I can easily find them – for example for planned exhibitions – and transport them directly.
The video above is mainly about the problem of packaging and the upcycling solution I found for it.
I know that all this is quite complex and took a lot of time. But that’s usually the case when you introduce a new system. At first it takes a lot of energy until it’s ready, but “ongoing operation” is then much easier than before.
And I admit, it was a lot of fun, even if the long hours at the cutting table and sewing machine were exhausting. The visible result makes up for the effort.
