Studio Journal: Fill in the sketchbook with visual notes and thoughts about it

In the last blog post I talked about making stacks of photo prints of motifs that I want to use as inspiration.

In today’s video above I show you what I do with these “visual notes”.

So I work my way through my stacks of subjects and see how I group the photos in the sketchbook. I leave space on the pages so I can make notes. Because after I’ve pasted everything that’s on my desk in front of me, I leaf through my studio journal and jot down whatever comes to mind about individual pictures or motifs. A first, rather superficial passage.

But I will always return to the pictures. If I sense that a topic or a group of photos interests me more than others, then I want to think about it more carefully: What exactly do I find exciting about a motif? And why?

And then a new project will probably crystallize, which I will deal with intensively in the coming time.

Of course I will add more photos and more notes to this journal over time, so that its pages are a lasting source of inspiration.
