Zum Jahresstart ist im Atelier Experimentieren und Spielen angesagt. Beim Aufräumen im Atelier ist mir unter anderem dieses Holzpanel in die Finger gefallen.
Im letzten August habe ich ausprobiert, was passiert, wenn ich Schichten von Reklame-Schnipseln aufklebe, mit Acrylfarbe darüber gehe, wieder klebe, wieder Farbe – und dann am Ende, nachdem alles gut getrocknet ist, mit einem Exzenterschleifer kräftig die Oberfläche bearbeite.
Ich mag die Strukturen, die sich ergeben, aber ich hatte keine Ahnung, was ich damit anfangen soll. So richtig habe ich das immer noch nicht, aber ich habe Lust dazu, mit diesen Strukturen zu arbeiten. Schaut euch an, was ich im Atelier gemacht habe.

Die neuen Strukturen haben die Collage- und Farbschichten regelrecht überwuchert. So wie die Natur unsere Hinterlassenschaften überwuchert und assimiliert.
Sie verändert sich dabei auch selber. Vielleicht nicht in eine Richtung, die uns passt, aber das interessiert die Natur nicht.
Diesen Gedanken werde ich im Hinterkopf behalten, wenn ich mit den Holzpanels weiter experimentiere. Mal sehen, wohin er mich führt.
In the studio: Experimenting with wooden panels layer by layer
At the beginning of the year, experimenting and playing is the order of the day in the studio. While tidying up, I came across this wooden panel, among other things.
Last August I tried what happens when I stick on layers of scraps of advertising, go over them with acrylic paint, glue again, paint again – and then at the end, after everything has dried well, sanding the surface vigorously with an orbital sander.
I like the structures that emerge, but I had no idea what to do with them. I still don’t really have it, but I feel like working with these structures. In the video above I show you what I did in the studio.
Now I have five wooden panels measuring 30 x 50 cm with many layers and on top a structure that makes me think of something organic, such as root networks, fungal threads or nerve tracts.
The new structures have literally overgrown the layers of collage and paint. Just as nature overgrows and assimilates our legacies.
She also changes herself. Maybe not in a direction that suits us, but nature doesn’t care.
I’ll keep that thought in mind when I experiment further with the wood panels. Let’s see where it takes me.
