Abstrakt und intuitiv – so habe ich das neue Bild begonnen. Die weitgehend monochromen Anfänge konntet ihr im letzten Sonntags-Video sehen. Abstrakt geht es auch weiter, ziemlich schnell kristalliert sich eine Komposition heraus, der ich dann folge.
Ich arbeite mit einer reduzierten Palette aus Orange, Phtalogrün, Blauviolett, Schwarz und Weiß, also mit drei Sekundärfarben statt der Grundfarben Gelb, Rot und Blau.
Die beiden heute hinzukommenden Farben – das Grün und das Violett – sind nicht gerade meine Lieblingsfarben. Gerade deshalb hatte ich Ende letzten Jahres ein paar Mischübungen damit gemacht und war erstaunt, was für schöne Petrol- und Blautöne sich erzeugen lassen.
Der Spaß an den wilden Pinselstrichen und dem lockeren Arbeiten mit den Malspachteln hat das Bild flott voran gebracht. Ich denke, es fehlt nur noch ein bisschen Feintuning, damit eine “runde Sache” daraus wird.
Es hat sich gezeigt, dass die Entscheidung, meinem Gefühl zu folgen und ein neues abstraktes Bild zu beginnen, mir Schwung gegeben hat. Und der ist hoffentlich auch später im fertigen Bild spürbar.
When longing for the sea guides the brush
Abstract and intuitive – that’s how I started the new painting. You could see the largely monochrome beginnings in the last Sunday video. It also goes on abstractly, quite quickly a composition crystallizes out, which I then follow.
In the video above I work with a reduced palette of orange, phthalo green, blue-violet, black and white, i.e. with three secondary colors instead of the primary colors yellow, red and blue.
The two new colors today – the green and the purple – are not my favorite colors. That’s why I did a few mixing exercises with them at the end of last year and was amazed of the beautiful petrol and blue tones that could be created.
The fun with the wild brushstrokes and the relaxed work with the palette knives brought the painting forward quickly. I think it just needs a bit of fine-tuning to make it a “round thing”.
Deciding to follow my instincts and start a new abstract painting has proven to give me momentum. And hopefully that will also be noticeable later in the finished painting.
