Da prallen zwei Worte aufeinander, die nach Gegensatz klingen: systematisch und Verwirrung. Wie geht das zusammen?
Zeichnen wir mal eine schnelle, kleine MindMap mit dem zentralen Begriff „Verwirrung“. Meine könnte so aussehen:
Da steckt schon einiges drin, das mit Kreativität zu tun hat:
Kreativität ist etwas zutiefst Menschliches. Ohne Kreativität säßen wir wahrscheinlich immer noch in einer Höhle, hätten weder Feuer noch andere Annehmlichkeiten und was weiß ich sonst noch.
Neues probieren – genau das tun wir, wenn wir kreativ sind. Wir erschaffen etwas, das es noch nicht gibt, gehen unbekannte Wege, finden heraus, was wir noch nicht wussten.
Und damit sind Vielfalt und Kreativität für mich so etwas wie Geschwister. Denn unsere Kreativität trägt zur Vielfalt in der Welt bei und ohne vielfältige Anregungen könnten wir nicht kreativ werden.
Verwirrung, Chaos ist ein Zustand, den wir – zumindest die meisten von uns – nur schlecht aushalten können. Wir wollen aus diesem Zustand wieder heraus, suchen Wege, Lösungen. Unsere Kreativität ist gefragt, wenn das mit den „üblichen“ Möglichkeiten nicht funktioniert.
Und jetzt kommt das Systematische ins Spiel. Wenn wir diesen Zustand der Verwirrung nutzen wollen, um unsere Kreativität anzufeuern, dann müssen wir ihn erzeugen, hervorrufen. Und zwar immer wieder.
Das kann zum Beispiel durch unsere künstlerischen Arbeitsprozesse geschehen.
Wenn ich bei meiner Leinwand damit beginne, dass ich willkürlich mit einem Graphitstift darauf kritzele, mit Pinsel und Malspachtel wild Farbe verteile, dann erzeuge ich eine Form von Chaos auf meinem Malgrund. Anschließend kann ich darauf reagieren, versuchen, eine Art Ordnung herzustellen – eine Bildkomposition -, die aus diesem Durcheinander erwächst.

Two words that sound like opposites collide: systematic and confusion. How does that go together?
Let’s draw a quick, small mind map with the central term “confusion”. Mine might look like this:
There is a lot in there that has to do with creativity:
Creativity is something deeply human. Without creativity we would probably still be in a cave with no fire or amenities and whatnot.
Trying new things – that’s exactly what we do when we’re creative. We create something that doesn’t exist so far, walk unknown paths, find out what we didn’t know yet.
And so diversity and creativity are something like siblings for me. Because our creativity contributes to diversity in the world and we could not be creative without a variety of suggestions.
Confusion, chaos is a state that we – at least most of us – find it difficult to endure. We want to get out of this situation, we are looking for ways and solutions. Our creativity is called for when the “usual” options don’t work.
And now the systematic comes into play. If we want to use this state of confusion to fuel our creativity, then we have to create it, evoke it. And again and again.
This can happen, for example, through our artistic work processes.
When I start my canvas by scribbling at random with a graphite pencil, wildly smearing paint with a brush and palette knife, I create a form of chaos on my canvas. Then I can react to it, try to create some kind of order – a pictorial composition – that grows out of this mess.
